DWPS Charoda Curriculum

Pre Primary Wing (Nursery-LKG-UKG)

The first step towards knowledge for beginners, the most crucial one- Pre-Primary education lays the foundations of a child’s knowledge, skills, and rules of behaviour, prerequisites for successful progress in daily life and school.

The play-way method is used for Pre-Nursery, Nursery, and Preparatory children by trained and experienced teachers through various activities, enabling children to develop their motor, emotional, sensational, and language skills.

Different learning areas such as the toy room, sandpit, amusement park, splash pool, horse riding, and nature study ensure that children enjoy, play, and learn. Smart classrooms add to the fun of learning. Various Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) provide an opportunity for children to participate, develop confidence, and foster a competitive spirit. Excursions combine learning about our surroundings with behaviour in public places during outings. Assessment of children on a weekly basis and interaction with parents through Parent-Teacher meetings is a regular feature.

The little ones are exposed to basic learning activities that help them become independent and develop self-help qualities like eating on their own, dressing themselves, maintaining cleanliness, and other fundamental skills.

Middle Wing (VI-VII)

DWPS Bhilai designs and implements its own curriculum based on guidelines to ensure that students and teachers have as much flexibility as possible to foster child-centred learning. The school encourages flexibility of methodology and the use of experiential learning systems, which help eliminate the need to learn by rote and develop a healthy and positive attitude towards learning.

The system takes into account the individualities of different children to provide adequate feedback on students’ learning without putting undue pressure. The introduction of Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) is a further step in this direction. .

Primary Wing (I-V)

Teaching-Learning Framework of the Primary Section

Schooling at the Primary level initiates children to build upon their existing knowledge and enthusiasm for continued learning. As they progress through this stage, we witness their exploratory spirit and thirst for knowledge in action, motivated by the endeavour for learning and building upon the foundation they have acquired from their skills. At this level, the emphasis is on learning and understanding of concepts through a curriculum designed to be engaging, relevant, and challenging. The Primary curriculum reflects these changing needs of young learners and is designed to be age-appropriate and progressive in nature. The various activities offered enable children to explore their multiple talents.

Highlights of Primary School Learning Approach

The teaching-learning process is at the core of all school activities. DWPS Charoda, Bhilai emphasises the use of practical and innovative teaching methods, employing a variety of strategies derived from theories, pedagogies, and practices. The early learning programme makes use of recreational resources and activity-driven approaches to illustrate concepts through projects, models, charts, visuals, multimedia, field trips, and more to strengthen the knowledge base.

Children are initiated into reading various forms of books in a spacious and well-stocked library. This fosters scientific temper, emphasises experiential learning, develops reasoning ability, and promotes language skills through active speaking and listening programmes. It nurtures creative talent and introduces digital skills such as the use of interactive boards, online learning, and information technology, engaging students to become inquirers and independent learners in state-of-the-art computer labs.

DWPS Bhilai fosters a stimulating learning environment that empowers future citizens for the emerging knowledge society. It is committed to providing stress-free learning that develops competent, confident, and enterprising citizens. Children are encouraged to develop good learning habits to effectively cope with the academic curriculum and the evaluation system.

To identify and nurture all students’ talents, we at DWPS have the Multiple Intelligence Approach that enables us to discuss positive strengths in all pupils and plan appropriate learning strategies effectively.
